My name is Martine and I am a Midwife, Nurse, Calmbirth practitioner and a mother to three beautiful children.
I have been a midwife since 2009 and have cared for many women in all aspects of pregnancy including the antenatal, labour and birth and postnatal periods. It is an absolute privilege and honour to be present when a new family is created, assisting in a small way to create positive birthing experience.
I had heard about the Calmbirth program along my journey as a midwife, but it was when my husband and I fell pregnant with our first baby that I really started to research into the course and how it might benefit us and our experience.
As a Midwife I understood what the birth involved but I was still a first time mum, so didn’t know exactly how I was going to cope with the whole process. I wanted to arm myself with as much knowledge and confidence to have a positive experience. It was also important to me for my husband to know exactly what our roles were on the day and how important he was in the whole process. The course was perfect for us, we both came away with so much excitement and confidence about the upcoming birth that we felt prepared for anything.
All three of my births were positive and enjoyable experiences. Using the techniques and skills we had learnt in Calmbirth, I believe, really helped in creating the birth that we had imagined for us. We were prepared for any path the birth may have taken.
Becoming a Calmbirth practitioner is my way of helping other women and their partners to create their own positive birth experience however they imagine it to be.
Your Perfect Birth.
